Extremely sensitive private launch, private access road and private Maryland LZ under the Mountaineer/landowner arrangement. Current detailed guidance requires club and USHPA membership, an officer/site monitor, site introduction and controlled gate access; private authorization remains independently red.
Site rules
  • Use the current Mountaineer contact path and do not approach either landowner directly
  • Current USHPA and Mountaineer membership are required under the detailed guide
  • New or visiting pilots must be accompanied by a club officer and walk the LZ
  • Use only the club-provided locked-gate and parking procedure
  • P3/H3 normally; P2/H2 only in benign conditions under the current site-monitor procedure

Official guide describes NW, flyable roughly NNW-WSW, with the normal useful window emphasized from NW through W.
Safety notes
  • Very steep grassy slot with tall trees and space for one wing
  • North cross can be turbulent and ridge-parallel flow can produce severe sink
  • Current PG base-wind guidance is 4-12 mph with no more than a 10 mph gust differential
  • The actual private launch, access road and landing approach are intentionally absent from this public row
Additional notes
Current guide last updated January 2024 and current club index remained live in July 2026. The 17 December 2024 club LZ plan and current county parcel corroborate the private Twigg landing property; a representative LZ point at 39.5660, -78.8220 and the full parcel envelope were screened.
