CPC's current guide treats Silver Star as an advanced wilderness site rather than a maintained club site. Hike from the current legal access point, respect locked gates and changing logging operations, and fly with a knowledgeable local; do not fly alone.

  • Minimum practical qualification is the current advanced P3/H3 guidance; obtain a knowledgeable local briefing and do not fly alone.
  • Use only legal public access and obey locked gates, logging, road, fire, trail, and land-manager closures.
  • Scout the current meadow/active landing options before flight because logging and vegetation can change them.
  • Carry backcountry communications, navigation, first aid, and a retrieve/emergency plan.
  • Check current weather, winds aloft, airspace, TFRs, NOTAMs, and Portland-area landing-pattern/traffic concerns.

  • PDX-area traffic and the published west-side landing-pattern considerations require a current local briefing.
