BHGC currently publishes the bowl as a distinct Peavine Mountain PG launch, and current reference mapping identifies this coordinate as Forest Service land. The legacy tower point and legacy Shell-station landing map as private and are not approved. Use only open public roads and trails, verify current Forest Service restrictions, and establish a lawful public or locally authorized landing or top-landing plan before flight.

  • Through October 21, 2026, comply with Forest Order 04-17-20-15: no presence from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., no camping, and no fires unless a stated exemption applies.
  • Do not use the legacy tower launch or Shell-station landing coordinates; current reference mapping identifies both as private.
  • Use only open public roads and trails, obey gates and posted vehicle restrictions, and do not create new routes or disturb vegetation.
  • Verify a lawful and reachable landing or top-landing area before launch; no maintained LZ is published.
  • No PPG operation is established.
Direction notes
BHGC publishes no bowl-specific heading or wind envelope. The north-to-east headings in the legacy tower record are not transferred to this distinct launch.
Safety notes
  • BHGC recommends H3 for Peavine Mountain.
  • No current source publishes a bowl-specific wind heading, wind-speed ceiling, maintained landing zone, bailout, or emergency procedure.
  • The nearby Reno/Stead aviation environment, mountain thermals, rapidly changing wind, remote dirt-road access, private inholdings, and utility infrastructure require a conservative local briefing.
  • Recheck the Forest Order after October 21, 2026, along with current closures, road conditions, wildfire restrictions, weather, NOTAMs, and TFRs.

Approved as the separately documented public Peavine Bowl launch, not the manifest's private tower point. The current source establishes PG only. The missing maintained LZ is made explicit and the private legacy LZ is prohibited.
