Use the same current Glide Missoula membership, USHPA, waiver, local-introduction, observer-progression, tower-call, WhatsApp open/close, radio, LZ, wildlife, and fire-closure procedures published for Mount Sentinel.
Site rules
  • Hold current club and USHPA membership, complete the current Sentinel waiver, and obtain a local site introduction.
  • Complete the required preflight and postflight Missoula Tower calls and club WhatsApp open/close process.
  • P3 flies solo; P2 needs five observed flights with two qualified locals and must then fly with P3.
  • Avoid Class D west of the mountain, occupied soccer fields, wildlife disturbance, posted fire closures, and emergency-only LZs.
  • Carry a radio and use the current club map and launch-specific limits.

  • Mountain thermals, convergence, rotor, venturi, virga, storms, and strong outflow can develop quickly.
  • The primary LZ is shared with other Sentinel launches and sits only 3.393 km from FAA heliport MT23; verify it is open and clear.
  • The launch is 4.140 km from MT23 and intersects no current Restricted/Prohibited polygon.
