Access notes
Little Gap operates through Blue Mountain Flying Club and the current Water Gap monitor framework. Pilots must be active club members, complete waivers, carry the physical member ID, request and receive express Blue Mountain clearance for every flying day, check the live status before driving, and obtain the required season-appropriate local briefing and LZ walk-through. Use only the club's current hike, setup, launch, main LZ, bailout, parking, and retrieve areas.
Site rules
- Receive Blue Mountain clearance each flying day; membership, waivers, and a member ID do not replace same-day permission.
- Carry a working radio on 148.500 MHz, helmet, and reserve, and comply with the current sponsor, observer, instructor, and experience limits.
- Land only in the designated LZ and do not top-land or conduct a commercial tandem unless Blue Mountain has preapproved it.
- Avoid ABE airspace and the club's mapped no-fly area behind launch; check current charts, NOTAMs, and TFRs every day.
- This record establishes unpowered PG only and does not authorize PPG.
Launch directions
NNW, N
Direction notes
Ideal 325-360 degrees; acceptable 315-020 degrees. The detailed rotor limits in the current guide are operationally controlling.
Safety notes
- The current launch is NNW-facing at roughly 950 feet AGL. The Water Gap guide gives 325-360 degrees ideal and 315-020 degrees acceptable, with PG 5/10/15 mph minimum/ideal/maximum and a 5 mph gust differential.
- The approach is about a three-quarter-mile hike with roughly 500 feet of elevation gain; setup space is limited directly behind launch.
- Power lines are about 350 feet AGL and 1,000 feet from the LZs and also cross the ridge west of launch. Peninsula and secondary-ridge rotor can create severe launch or LZ turbulence.
- The club map's main LZ geometry near 40.8188,-75.5406 and bailout geometry were separately checked. The launch is 6.84 km and main LZ about 8.18 km from operational 69N Slatington Airport; neither intersects current R/P airspace.
Additional notes
Retained as a current, heavily structured club site rather than walk-up public access. The exact launch comes from the current club-linked map and closely matches automated record 10018.
Map pin (exact launch)
Exact current club-linked KML launch at 40.807648,-75.547933. Main and bailout LZ polygons, parking, power lines, and no-fly zones are distinct map features.
Navigation warning
Exact launch pin but not an arrival instruction. Check the live status, receive same-day clearance, carry the club ID, and obtain the current hike, launch, LZ, and no-fly briefing first.
