Access notes
Public-land launch managed with local free-flight stewardship. Reach it by the current Arco/Arco Pass/Natural Arch/Beaverland Pass route; a high-clearance vehicle and a long shuttle are prudent.
Site rules
- Check current road and fire conditions
- Use published non-airfield landing zones
- Visiting pilots should obtain a local site briefing
Launch directions
S, SW, W, NW
Direction notes
South and southwest are preferred; west and northwest are conditional.
Safety notes
- Strong high-desert thermals, dust devils and thunderstorms are common
- Do not rely on the nearby glider airstrip; two intermediate landing zones support the glide
- P2/P3 use should be limited to calm conditions with experienced local guidance
Additional notes
Broad, gentle grassy setup; south and southwest are primary, with west or northwest possible. The official guide documents multiple non-airfield LZs between launch and Glider Park.
Map pin (exact launch)
The official King Mountain guide identifies this Lower launch setup.
Navigation warning
Use the current King Mountain route guide; the direct mountain road has washed-out sections and should not be assumed passable.
