Compass AirSports currently identifies Hokah as a free-flight solo location. Coordinate with Compass or a current local pilot before first use because this is a small, access-sensitive hike-and-fly site. The source says to park at the bottom along the main road or at the golf-course lot across the road/trees; verify current legal roadside and golf-course parking permission rather than assuming either space is available.
Site rules
- Use only in SSW conditions after a current local/site briefing; the source says no other wind works.
- Never fly in SSE wind because the source documents a massive rotor.
- Do not fly northeast toward La Crosse airport, reported about 17 km away by the site source.
- Do not damage flora; this is a natural area and low-impact access is mandatory.
- No more than three gliders in the sky at once; the source calls the site too small for more.
