Access notes
Heavener Southwest is an open BMF PG launch on private non-tribal land with a private cattle-pasture LZ behind a locked gate at 34.8901,-94.5857. BMF membership, current landowner authorization, and direct coordination with the current site coordinator are mandatory. Pilots pass through Heavener Runestone Park, must obey its speed and closing rules, and may need 4WD for the rock ascent and clay after rain. Obtain the current keys, gates, parking, launch, LZ, cattle, and retrieve instructions; the nearby SSE launch is closed and must not be used.
Site rules
- Maintain current BMF membership and obtain current site-coordinator and private-landowner authorization before every visit.
- Use only the Southwest launch and locked-gate Southwest LZ; the South-Southeast launch is closed at the landowner's request.
- Obey park speed limits and closing time, notify the park manager for any authorized after-dark presence, stay on roads, and close gates.
- Meet the current P2/P3 clearance and guide requirements and carry helmet, reserve, radio on 151.925 MHz, and cell phone.
- This establishes PG only; do not infer PPG from the private pasture.
Launch directions
SW, W
Direction notes
Ideal 225 degrees and acceptable 190-270 degrees. Northwest cross can produce dangerous rotor at the headwall.
Safety notes
- The Southwest face is ideal around 225 degrees and acceptable 190-270. P2 maximum is 12 mph with a five-mph differential and 15-mph peak; current guide controls.
- Northwest cross at stronger velocity creates headwall rotor, and pilots who fail to reach the headwall can be forced into trees.
- The LZ contains cattle, manure, tall grass, scattered trees, and a barbed-wire western boundary. Avoiding a minor obstacle with a low turn is a greater injury risk.
- The launch and LZ are approximately 15 km from operational RKR Robert S Kerr Airport and intersect zero current Restricted or Prohibited polygons.
Additional notes
Current private PG site retained under the expansive red policy and visibly marked as both private/prior-authorization and club-controlled. SSE remains a separate hard exclusion.
Map pin (exact launch)
Exact January 2026 BMF Southwest launch coordinate, with a distinct exact private LZ at 34.8901,-94.5857.
Navigation warning
Exact private launch pin, not permission. Arrange BMF/site-coordinator and landowner authorization, park passage, gates, 4WD status, and the locked private LZ before travel.
