Access notes
The current RGSA PG guide places the exact PG launch and top LZ on Lincoln National Forest land. The broader official club directory explicitly identifies Guadalupe Ridge for HG/PG/PPG, but it does not publish a separate PPG ground-start point. Treat this pin as the exact PG launch and a general site-area anchor for PPG; contact RGSA and the current land manager for the powered operating location and current fire/access rules.
Site rules
- Use the published PG launch only for PG; obtain the current PPG ground-start point and land-manager rules before any powered operation.
- Check TALON MOA schedules with Flight Service and advise them of the operation because military aircraft use the ridge low and fast.
- Land respectfully on National Forest/BLM terrain or, if forced onto ranch land, near a road and away from livestock and operations.
- Follow current forest closures, fire rules, radio/communication planning, and all Part 103 and airspace limits.
Launch directions
SW, WSW, W
Direction notes
PG guide publishes 235-270 degrees acceptable and 240-260 ideal. No PPG takeoff heading is published.
Safety notes
- PG launch is H2/P2 with prior mountain experience; ideal 240-260 degrees, acceptable 235-270, 7-15 mph for PG with 10 mph ideal and gusts up to 5.
- Severe rotor extends east behind the ridge; do not top-land 100-500 feet behind the rim and avoid low terrain flight in thermic conditions.
- The site lies in TALON LOW A and TALON HIGH A MOAs. MOA presence is documented but is not an R/P hard exclusion; active military traffic remains a serious hazard.
- PG launch and top LZ are 44.556 km and 44.925 km from 2E5 Dell City Municipal and outside current R/P polygons.
Additional notes
PG and PPG are both explicit in the official club directory. The exact coordinate is the PG launch; the separate powered start is intentionally not invented.
Map pin (exact launch)
Exact current PG launch; only a site-area anchor for the separately evidenced but unpublished PPG operating point.
Navigation warning
Exact for PG only. PPG pilots must obtain the current non-airport powered start and land-manager instructions; do not start a motor from this pin merely because PPG is listed for the broader ridge.
