Public BLM launch near the upper loop of Five Springs Falls Campground. Confirm current local conditions and restrictions with the Cody Field Office before travel. The campground is first come, and the final access road is steep and narrow; public campground access does not guarantee a flyable launch or unrestricted parking/setup area.
Site rules
  • Check current Cody Field Office closures, fire restrictions, grazing activity, campground operations, and road conditions before the trip.
  • Use the steep narrow campground road conservatively; the BLM says it is unsuitable for recreational vehicles over 25 feet, and campground traffic has priority.
  • Do not occupy campsites, block the upper-loop road/parking, disturb livestock, or create a new vehicle route to the launch.
  • Use the disclosed BLM LZ at 44.7974,-107.991 only after an on-site obstacle, livestock, surface, and wind inspection.
  • The published launch sector is SE-S with SW possible; abandon the flight when the wind is cross, strong, gusty, or otherwise inconsistent with the terrain.
