The mountain launches and required LZ are privately owned and managed by Tony Covelli. Before any training, ground handling, kiting, or flight, hold current USHPA membership, complete the current Ellenville Flight Park waiver, and pay the published season or day-pass fee. The current HVFF guide says P3 with P2 observed, but the controlling EFP page still links site rules that call Ellenville a P4 site and reserve any PG exception to the landowner; use P4 as the conservative minimum until EFP directly confirms otherwise. First-time pilots need a local site briefing.

Site rules

Complete the current Ellenville Flight Park waiver and dues/day-pass process before using the private launch or LZ; a pilot may buy no more than three day passes in a year before moving to a season pass.
Treat the site as P4 unless Tony Covelli or the current controlling EFP rules explicitly confirm a lower rating. Do not rely on the more permissive convenience summary alone.
Use the designated PG portion of the LZ, remain alert for faster low HG approaches, stop kiting for incoming traffic, and carry the wing promptly to the breakdown area after landing.
No motorized flight may launch from or land in the EFP LZ. Unauthorized tandem flights and top landings are also prohibited.
Use only the current mountain-launch gate and gravel-road process. Drive and park courteously, pack out trash, report injuries immediately, and obtain a first-visit briefing from an experienced local pilot.

Use the individual launch envelopes, not the broad cardinal labels: west 260-280, northwest 305-325, and north 335-355 degrees. The road ramp is HG-only and is not represented as a PG launch.

Safety notes

Ellenville can produce severe thermic and mechanical turbulence even when launch looks benign. Northerly flow and stronger winds increase the risk, and landing conditions can be much worse than launch conditions.
The current guide documents three PG launch envelopes: west 260-280 degrees up to 12 mph, northwest 305-325 up to 15 mph, and north 335-355 up to 15 mph, with no more than 5 mph gust spread.
Wonder-wind and wave lift can make descent difficult near sunset. Plan descent early and remain prepared for strong gradient, venturi, and changing wind direction in the LZ.
Keep well clear of the Route 52 gap and other venturi areas, the flat ridge top where blowback is possible, tree-top wind gradient, mixed HG/PG traffic, and Gardiner's active skydiving operation over the back.
Tree landings are unacceptable; if one occurs, stay hooked in and helmeted, secure yourself, communicate by radio or phone, and wait for the experienced local rescue response.

Additional notes

One row represents EFP's three closely grouped west, northwest, and north mountain launches under one private access and landing contract. The current HVFF coordinate supersedes the slightly rounded automated pin. The official EFP rules explicitly prohibit motorized flight from both launch and LZ, so ppgFriendly is false.
