Access notes
Use only through SDI Paragliding Academy/Corn Alps or the currently authorized tow operator. The source describes a 2.6-mile north-south tow road and a nearby 2.0-mile east-west tow road. Corn Alps assigns the current gravel county road, task, tow queue, weather hold, and retrieve process through event check-in and its WhatsApp group; no road is self-service.
Site rules
- For the published 2026 Corn Alps operation, hold current USHPA membership and at least P2; follow any higher organizer requirement outside the event.
- Register or purchase the published non-registered day access before flying; check in with SDI and join the current operations communication channel.
- PG pilots must bring a tow bridle or obtain one from the operator.
- Launch only from the road and direction assigned by the tow director; do not independently block or tow from a county road.
- Published 2026 flying windows are 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and remain weather/operations dependent.
- Respect crops, farm access, landowners, retrieve instructions, and any assigned landout restrictions.

N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW
Direction notes
The source rates all eight compass sectors good because the operation can select north-south or east-west tow roads. The tow director still assigns the actual road and direction.
Safety notes
- Platform/aerotow and county-road operations involve tow lines, vehicles or tug traffic, road traffic, ditches, wires, poles, crops, and bystanders.
- Corn Alps reports strong flatland thermals and 5,000-8,000 ft AGL cloud bases; maintain legal airspace clearance and current NOTAM/TFR awareness.
- Open fields are emergency landing options, not blanket access permission; inspect crops, obstacles, surface, livestock, and retrieve access.
Additional notes
Primary Cosmos tow-road record. Current 2026 XC tracks cluster near 44.9863,-94.7984, about 0.19 km from this source point. PG is explicit; PPG is not inferred.
Map pin (approximate field)
Source point for a multi-road tow network, corroborated by a current flight cluster; it is not a single surveyed launch line or meeting point.
Navigation warning
Approximate Cosmos tow-network point only. Obtain the current road, staging, tow, and retrieve instructions from SDI/Corn Alps before travel.
