Access notes
Cannon is a managed NEPHC site, not a walk-up public launch. Pilots must hold current USHPA and NEPHC memberships, save the NEPHC membership-status screen before arrival, show it with government ID to the Cannon Tram operator, and sign the NEPHC book in the base lodge on every flying day. The flying permit operates only while the Tram is operating and Cannon employees are present. Access is by an online-reserved round-trip tram ticket or by hiking the Kinsman Ridge Trail; one-way tram tickets are not sold and hiking the ski slope is prohibited.
Site rules
- Mountain-qualified USHPA P3 and current NEPHC membership are required; current USHPA membership alone is insufficient.
- Carry an offline screenshot of NEPHC membership status plus government-issued ID, check in with the Tram operator, and sign the NEPHC book in the base lodge every flying day.
- Fly only off ski season, after the published post-ski closure through May 27 has ended, while the Tram permit and daily site operation are active; no flight is allowed before Cannon employees are present.
- Launch only from the Profile ski run under the current NEPHC/Cannon process. Do not top-land.
- This WingVoyagers record supports only the official Main LZ at 44.171286,-71.691545. The separate Franconia Airport alternate is categorically excluded and is not represented as an app landing option.
- Use an online-reserved round-trip Tram ticket or hike only the Kinsman Ridge Trail; do not hike the ski slope.
- Recheck the official guide before every visit. Its page was updated in 2026 but still labels the paraglider/mini-wing restriction as the 2025 season, so confirm the current-season equipment restriction with NEPHC/Cannon.

Direction notes
The official current guide labels the site N-NE but narrows the actual operating envelope to 340-010 degrees ideal and 330-020 acceptable. The N/NE labels are broad discovery labels, not permission to use the entire northeast quadrant.
Safety notes
- This is an alpine site above 4,000 feet MSL. Conditions can change rapidly and valley winds can build during the day; NEPHC limits it to mountain-qualified P3 pilots.
- The current guide gives an ideal wind range of 340-010 degrees, an acceptable range of 330-020 degrees, 10 mph ideal, 15 mph maximum for a standard paraglider, and no more than 5 mph additional gusting.
- Profile is an approximately 100-foot-wide east-facing ski run bordered by trees; crosswind turbulence near either side of launch is a material hazard.
- Chairlift and tram cables are adjacent to the launch area. NEPHC requires at least 500 vertical feet and 1,000 horizontal feet of clearance from the tram and its cables.
- The site lies under Yankee MOA 1 and 2. Expect possible military traffic plus low general-aviation, sailplane, glider-tow aircraft, and trailing tow lines associated with nearby Franconia Airport.
- The Main LZ requires at least a 2.6:1 glide from launch. No airport landing zone is included in this record.
Additional notes
Current official NEPHC evidence corroborates the PGE Cannon candidate as an active club-managed paragliding site and identifies the allowed launch as the Profile ski run. The source coordinate itself is retained only as an approximate launch-area pin because ParaglidingEarth explicitly says it needs verification and the official guide does not publish a launch GPS coordinate. The official Main LZ is independently screened and recorded in source evidence. No source establishes paramotor operations here, so ppgFriendly remains false.
Map pin (approximate field)
The point is the ParaglidingEarth Cannon summit candidate near the Profile run. PGE explicitly marks its coordinate for verification; the current official guide confirms Profile as the launch but supplies no launch GPS point.
Navigation warning
Approximate launch-area pin only. Do not navigate to, set up on, or launch from this coordinate without the current NEPHC Cannon guide, daily Tram check-in, and on-site identification of the permitted Profile launch area.
