Canaan Valley Resort State Park launch reached by lift ticket or approved hike, under current USHPA, waiver and in-person site-briefing procedures. The primary Miller farm LZ is private, so privateField and authorizationRequired remain red.
Site rules
- Use the current State Park registration/waiver and Mountaineer briefing procedure
- Walk the primary LZ and review the two bailout fields before the first flight
- Follow the current site contact's rating direction; use P3 unless a lower-rated flight is expressly supervised under the current club rule
- No mini-wings under the published site rules
- Do not launch more than 45 degrees cross or above 15 mph at launch

Official guide gives a southwest face and a flyable sector from WNW to S/SSW; use current on-site limits.
Safety notes
- Typical East Coast slot surrounded by tall trees; fly out before entering the harness
- East-of-south flow can produce severe sink and west cross can produce launch turbulence
- Carry the current radio, reserve and tree-rescue equipment specified by the site procedure
- Use the recommended S-pattern or standard approach and clear the private LZ promptly
Additional notes
Current official guide last updated January 2024; the club index and April 2026 APPI record corroborate activity. Primary Miller LZ is 38.9841, -79.4538. The 17 December 2024 LZ plan places the preferred touchdown between the pond and church; the two unnamed bailouts were screened through a conservative launch-to-LZ corridor.
