The take-off is 10km far from the city and virtually any citizen can help you with instructions about how to get there if you ask for Costão do Frade. After leaving the car on the small road (there is no parking lot), a hiking of about 90 minutes and approximately 2km is needed to reach the launch site, almost 450 meters above. The trail is easy to medium and even children can do it without big efforts. The city of Bom Retiro is located 120km from Florianópolis (the capital of Santa Catarina state) and 90km from Lages, in both cases driving through the BR282.

Safety notes
- The take-off is 10km far from the city and is very easy and calm, suitable for all kinds of pilots, including beginners. It offers a great view of the adjacent lands and it is located just a few kilometers from the highest point of the state. Ridge lift and thermals. Largely unexplored flying site due to lack of local pilots. Excelent conditions for XC. There is a few but good options of landing sites just in front of lauch site, below the mountain, but there is a plenty of sites for those who could get a thermal and fly away. Getting high and flying the opposite direction you could choose between a lot of excelllent landing sites very close to BR282. Please keep the gates closed at all times and everything clean.
