Bill's Hill launches from Buchanan State Forest and uses a privately hosted main LZ at 40.096944,-78.077222 through a repeatable CHGPA access contract. Current CHGPA and USHPA membership are required. On every flying day, call the state forest and leave the required notice, text the LZ owner early to confirm the field is usable, and obtain a current site briefing. First-time pilots must fly with an experienced site pilot. Follow the current road, speed, parking, gate, launch, LZ, and retrieve instructions.
Site rules
  • Maintain current CHGPA and USHPA membership and notify Buchanan State Forest on the day of flight.
  • Confirm the private LZ with its owner early that day; a standard confirmation is part of the club site contract and the map pin is not owner consent.
  • First-time pilots must be accompanied by an experienced site pilot, and no speed wings or mini-wings are allowed.
  • Respect road speed limits, crops, horses, fences, gates, power lines, neighboring properties, and the owner's current LZ instructions.
  • This record establishes PG only, not PPG.

Safety notes
  • The current guide rates the site P2/H2 and gives an ideal 60-120-degree sector with a broader 20-160-degree range; hard southeast or northeast cross can produce turbulence.
  • The 1,400-foot-AGL launch is a large grassy gentle slot. PG maximum published wind is 18 mph and the gust differential should remain under 10 mph.
  • The main grassy LZ can contain crops or horses and has power-line exposure. Confirm the exact current usable area and pattern before launch; no top landing.
  • Launch and disclosed LZ are respectively 7.712 km and 7.812 km from operational 48PS Blue Haven aerodrome and intersect zero current R/P polygons.
Additional notes
Included as a club/contract site because the launch is state-forest land and the private LZ uses a documented routine confirmation process. It is not represented as a public walk-up launch or a standalone private field.
