Access notes
Jackson Hole Free Flight Club publishes Beaver as an active remote P3+ evening hike-and-fly site and requires pilots to contact a club member before visiting. The launch is Forest Service land, but the documented LZ is on a private parcel; obtain the current JHFFC landing permission and access instructions before committing to flight.
Site rules
- P3 minimum with current JHFFC contact/briefing before visiting; this technical remote site is not a P2 training launch.
- Confirm the current private-LZ agreement before flight and use the open grassy field at 43.2793,-110.645 only under that agreement; never land in the horse pasture.
- Use the west-facing launch only in light/moderate conditions within the club's published 250-300 degree sector, ideal about 8 mph and maximum 16 mph.
- Carry radio, first-aid equipment, and satellite communication; do not depend on cell service or easy ground access.
- Verify winds aloft and preserve a strong penetration margin; do not launch when moderate/strong flow creates blowback exposure.

Direction notes
JHFFC publishes 250-300 degrees, ideal about 8 mph and maximum 16 mph; the site is commonly flown after 5 p.m. in forecast light west flow.
Safety notes
- The launch is a steep forest slot with loose ball-bearing scree; strong sidehill-launch skill and deliberate clearance from trees are required.
- Remote cliff bands and forest make a forced landing or rescue difficult; a satellite tracker is strongly advised.
- Strong catabatic flow can develop from the canyon south of the LZ near sunset and may become apparent only below about 100 feet AGL.
- Thermal cycles, shear, and winds aloft can create real blowback risk; maintain speedbar and descent-technique competence.
Additional notes
Current official JHFFC PG site. The marker is the Forest Service launch, not the private LZ, so private_field remains false while authorization_required remains true for the club process and landing agreement. No PPG use is established.
Map pin (exact launch)
Published Beaver launch coordinate from the PGE/APPI record, matched to the official JHFFC west-facing forest-slot description.
